First fight! Video from New Bark

[With a click the video feed starts showing a confused girl with what looks to be a cotton ball on her head. She flips it over in her hands a few times before pressing a button. The feed cuts out for a few moments only to come back.]

Ah! This is a really interesting machine don’t you think Aoko?

[The cotton ball chirps as Misaki looks down at her gear. It seems she hasn’t realized that it’s broadcasting yet.]

[She looks at the Hoothoot with wide eyes.]

An owl?

[That's when her Swablu gets a little restless and flutters on Misaki's head.]

Ah!

She's called a Hoothoot. She used to belong to a friend of mine, but she is with me for now.

Your starter... you said her name was Aoko?

Hoothoot? That's really cute!

[Nods carefully not to disturb Aoko too much.]

I dropped a ball earlier and she appeared! She wont leave me alone so I gave her a name.

[Wait...]

Is Aoko a Pokemon?

Yes, she is. I've never seen one like her before, but she's a Pokemon, and she'll be your partner from here on out, so long as you both agree to it.

[Fuu's so used to this concept. it's like it's obvious.]

[Misaki's mouth makes an "o" shape as she nods.]

Are we supposed to do something?

Well, it depends on what job you're assigned.

Job? What kind of job?

Well, there are trainers who are supposed to fight Pokemon in battles and competitions; there are breeders, who raise Pokemon and help breed them to have more, sometimes more advanced Pokemon--and there are Rockets, who are assigned to steal Pokemon and cause havoc.

Oh! The lady who said she was my mother said something about training. Does that mean I'm a trainer?

[Wait. Backtracking now.]

Steal Pokemon? Cause Havoc? Why would they do that?

It might. Did you by chance have an apron on your person, or a breeders' guide? If not, you're more than likely a trainer.

Team Rocket is a criminal syndicate operating, last I could tell, out of Mahogany and Goldenrod. I haven't quite figured out why they do it, but I was told they might have a hand in bringing us here.

[The Gear gets put down for a second so Misaki can rummage through her bag.]

No apron or anything called a breeders' guide.

[She then picks up the Gear again.]

Oh. Does anyone have an idea why we're here?

No one has a clue, unfortunately. Or any idea to get home.

Does anyone ever get home?

[She's starting to worry about her friends and family. What if they report her missing?]

We do... and I've been told no time passes.

[She's trying to figure out how that would work now.]

Not where we are from... I think this is a common side-effect of traveling between worlds.

Yes. So far as I can tell, the region we're in is called Johto

Johto...

[This is so weird.]

I'm not sure the name of the world... but there are other regions like this one, from what I understand. It's fairly large, so you should do your best to be careful.

Is it really dangerous here?

It can be, if you're not careful. The Pokemon possess amazing powers... they can burn or freeze you without a thought to it, in some cases. In others they can have any ability from stealing your soul to poisoning you... but it's very rare to see someone injured very badly.

[This is not the time to cry Misaki. Time to be serious.]

Is there a way to defend yourself?

That's what your Pokemon is for. It should protect you from wild ones who might harm you on your travels.
